Back-Roads Touring

Back-Roads Touring has more than 30 years’ experience in creating exciting small group and tailor-made tours in the UK, Europe and Asia, designed for the older traveller. Small groups of no more than 18 guests, expert local knowledge, special culinary experiences and taking the road less travelled results in authentic, personalised tours.

About Back-Roads Touring

Back-Roads Touring has won several awards for its fantastic tours exploring the beautiful British Isles, Europe’s fascinating cities and the revered temples of Vietnam and Cambodia, including the iconic Angkor Wat. Groups are small with no more than 18 guests, allowing flexibility with every itinerary. This also creates a personalised experience, delivered by knowledgeable tour leaders. They bring each destination to life with their insight and knowledge including interesting anecdotes, and often dine with the group.

The company’s philosophy is to take the road less travelled. The luxury mini-coaches offer both comfort and style and avoid motorways, instead opting for the beautiful back roads inaccessible to larger vehicles. This results in a much more scenic journey winding through spectacular countryside taking in beautiful towns and villages along the way.

Tours don’t just call at the key sights and major cities, but allow guests to see a destination through the eyes of the locals. Authentic local experiences are included and enhance every holiday. Tours also include boutique accommodation, from stays in magnificent European chateaux to stunning garden resorts in Asia.

Tours operate at a leisurely pace and there is always plenty of time at leisure to explore independently. In addition, every tour is designed with sustainable tourism in mind and Back-Roads Touring has been awarded a Silver Green Tourism rating.

Back-Roads Touring offers a selection of specialised tours, including Battlefield tours accompanied by tour leaders, some of whom are former servicemen and women. Visits to poignant battlefields are included and the small group touring philosophy allows tour leaders to be flexible when selecting the sites visited. Other themed tours include culinary tours, from sampling regional delicacies in Italy to dining with a family in the heart of Cambodia.
